Horizontal continuous mixer In the continuous version, series HTK, the product is fed into the first third of the drum via nozzles and discharged on the output side. Alternatively, this can take place via a product discharge in the drum base or at the front via special height-adjustable weir constructions. In combination with the mixer design, the mixing or drying result can be directly adjusted via the average residence time in the product chamber. In the mostly continuous production processes of industrial goods, continuous mixers can often be used very efficiently. An optimally designed continuous mixer usually replaces two to three batch mixers of a comparable size in these processes, which means considerable differences in terms of both space requirements and investment volume. There are many other examples of applications for horizontal continuous mixers: mixing superabsorbents with additives is just as possible as drying foodstuffs or mixing hazardous waste of different types in order to homogenize the calorific value of the material and thus avoid temperature peaks in the rotary kiln. Conclusion: Thanks to their wide range of applications, mixers and their variants form the heart of many bulk material processing plants in all industrial sectors. The machines must be adapted precisely to the respective requirements and raw material properties.
