Screw conveyors / screw conveyors

Screw conveyors are used to convey dusty, granular, fine-grained, but also semi-moist and fibrous bulk materials. In a bearingless design, for bridging relatively short distances of up to 10 meters, they meet your requirements as feed, discharge, or intermediate conveyors. They are particularly well suited for free-flowing materials such as flour, cement, soot, Granulates, dye powders, boiler ash, etc., but are also proven in use for handling heavy and abrasive bulk materials such as coal, sand, gravel, ilmenite, ore, lead, zinc and nickel ore, sinter, alumina, ash and slag.

Larger conveying lengths of up to 60 meters require several center bearing stations at intervals of 3 to 4 meters in addition to the existing drive and end displacement.
Since the material can be discharged at different points, screw conveyors are suitable as distribution devices for alternating feeding of containers, bunkers, and silos. The required material flow is regulated by manually or mechanically operated slides at the various outlet openings. The type and design of the screw conveyors are tailored to the specific conditions of the plant and the respective physical properties of the various conveying materials.
A wide range of designs and sizes are available to meet the requirements. The materials required for the common product, application, and temperature ranges are already taken into account in the design.

Advantages:

  • Simple, compact, and robust design
  • Low space requirements (particularly suitable for confined spaces due to small cross-sections)
  • Low installation/maintenance costs
  • Dust- and odor-free conveying thanks to appropriate design
  • Low susceptibility to faults
  • Long service life thanks to additional wear protection measures
  • Extensive accident prevention thanks to complete "enclosure" of the working screw shaft and the external rotating parts
  • Individual loading and unloading options for the conveyed material at any point
  • Suitable for steep and vertical conveying
  • Additional technological functions during the conveying process (e.g., cooling, heating, mixing, drying, washing, etc.) are possible

Brief technical description:

The modular, maintenance- and user-friendly Brama screw conveyors essentially consist of:

Drive and end console in a solid, torsion-resistant welded/screwed/braced construction. Depending on the product, appropriate bearings and seals are used for the shaft passage to the product chamber. For products containing liquids, sealing rings are used, and for powdery products, an adjustable, preloaded stuffing box is used.
Several long-life packings in conjunction with an additional grease seal or sealing ring ensure the required sealing effect.
Strong external roller bearings bolted to bearing brackets in flange or pedestal housings, as well as a vibration-free motor mounting plate, complete the compactness and stability of the module component. Screw shaft consisting of a thick-walled shaft tube with drive and end journals on both sides, which are attached by a force-fitting or additional flash welding. The geometry of the screw flight set is variable in its design and is configured and manufactured according to individual requirements. The overall design described above results in a very conservative bending line without stress peaks, resulting in a long service life.
Complete worm gear housing with the necessary process, inspection, and maintenance connections, in single or multiple pipe or U-trough form, with appropriate reinforcement in accordance with static requirements. The cover, which is split for easy handling, is bolted to the U-trough. Power is transmitted either via a gear motor in the respective design with an elastic coupling, a reduction chain drive, or directly via an external gear.

A wide range of additional requirements, such as:

  • Material selection
  • Pressure resistance
  • Gas tightness with specific leak rate
  • Abrasion protection
  • Torque limitation
  • Frequency control
  • Rotation monitoring

are taken into account according to customer specifications.
